A Message from Mr. Eric Jolliffe, Chief of Police 

On behalf of the men and women of York Regional Police, I extend sincere greetings to everyone in attendance for “An Evening with the Consul of India in Toronto Mr. Akhilesh Mishra”, hosted by the Al Nadwa Islamic Centre.

Our community is one that is rich in diversity in which we welcome and celebrate the contributions of residents from all corners of the world. The hosting of this event is indeed a testament to the good work and legacy of the Al Nadwa Islamic Centre’s community service, which continues to foster strong relationships and positively impact the lives of many in our multicultural community. 

Please accept our best wishes for a most successful and enjoyable event and we look forward to many future opportunities for friendship and collaboration.

I hope you both doing wonderful in all aspect. Pl accept my sincere apologies for delay in sending you this email. As per your request please see details below:


1. Community members bring non perishable donation to Al Nadwa Center where it is stored in the storage area and is delivered to food Bank 1st Monday of every month.

2. Al Nadwa has a team of volunteers, every 2nd Sunday a training secession is organized to motivate and train volunteers.

3. Al Nadwa Executive meets every Thursday evening to review activities of previous week, formalize plans for the following like Friday prayers and other programs mentioned below.

4. Youth Group activities include study group, games and sports, hospital visits, students helping students and field trips.

5. Volunteers activities include snow removal, Doctor's appointments, shopping and visits to the Bank etc for those who need it.

6. Women' Group meets every 2nd Wednesday to review and plan their activities like women's swimming and other social and academic programs.

7. 50% of the space rented by Al Nadwa Learning Center at unit 13, # 10 Newkirk Road is used for collecting Food Bank donation, storage of prayer carpets used at Bayview Hill Community Center for prayers, PA system, podium, stationary, sports equipment for youth and other supplies used at Al Nadwa Center.

8. Larger functions like community dinners, award ceremonies, Mayor' Eid Dinner and other social and community events are held at Bayview Hills Community Center, Sheraton Hotel and other facilities rented by Al Nadwa Center. 


9. Community members often hold their meetings, parties, birthdays and other events at Al Nadwa Center.
